Contrary to perception, many companies involved in exploration and production in Kansas are not large, multi-national corporations. The vast majority are smaller Independent producers, some employing less than 10 people. Though Independents may be smaller their contribution is huge. They embody the entrepreneurial spirit of the oil and gas industry dating back to its beginning in 1860.
