Kansas Strong® Launches Multi-Media Campaign
Kansas Oil & Gas Resources Fund (KOGRF) announced the launch of a new statewide multi-media public education campaign. The outreach initiative titled Kansas Strong® is designed to inform Kansans about the significant contributions of their natural gas and oil industry to the state and throughout the nation.
“This new phase in KOGRF’s efforts to illustrate the productive impact of our industry is a significant step,” said J.L. White, KOGRF Director of Communications. “It establishes a meaningful messaging platform to foster ongoing and interactive communications related to the energy produced right here within our borders.”
Production of natural gas and oil in Kansas is responsible for nearly 30,000 jobs within the state, and it generates hundreds of millions of dollars in funding each year for schools, roads and bridges. With production in 85% of its counties, Kansas is a top-ten producer of natural gas and oil in the U.S. “Through a recent statewide research study, we learned that the majority of Kansans are not aware that Kansas is in the top-ten of natural gas and oil production,” said White. “With the use of a number of communications outlets, we hope to begin generating awareness about facts like these, as well as providing tomorrow’s leaders some basics about how energy is produced.”
KOGRF is a non-profit and non-governmental organization voluntarily funded by Kansas’ natural gas and oil producers. Its purpose is to provide the public important facts and information about the vital role natural gas and oil production plays in advancing our state and sustaining our nation’s energy supply. KOGRF is also a steward of education in the classroom, supplying teaching guides, teacher workshops and activity kits free of charge to expose young minds to geology, science and other industry related subjects.
